Katin Keirstead, LMT, began her career path in health and wellness when she received her Reiki 1 attunement in 1998. Reiki offered her the opportunity to connect with herself and others in a positive and meaningful way. She decided to further her knowledge in healing modalities, and received a Diploma in Muscular Therapy from the Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, MA (now known as Cortiva), in 2000. She received additional training in areas such as Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, and Infant Massage Instruction, and practiced massage therapy in various spas in the New England area. Katin completed an apprenticeship in Esthetics in 2004 and received licensure in Esthetics, and received a B.S. in Business Management from Western Governor's University in 2010.
After opening Back In Touch Massage and Skin Care in 2005, Katin decided she wanted to share her experience with future massage therapists. She began teaching massage therapy at Seacoast Career School in 2005, where she had the priviledge of instructing hundreds of students in various massage therapy techniques, business practices, anatomy and physiology, and law and ethics. While Katin remains involved in post-secondary education, she recognized a need for simple, low-cost, online continuing education classes to help busy massage therapy professionals maintain licensure and certification. Continuing education is required for massage therapists to maintain licensure in many states, as well as to maintain National Certification through the National Certifications Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Katin Keirstead became a NCBTMB Approved Provider of Continuing Education in July, 2012, Approved Provider # 452017-12 .
